The Centre for Training and Lifelong Learning (KEDIVIM) of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) welcomes you to the educational program titled Social Media Sports Communication – Mastering the Art of Promoting Sports Content in the Digital Age, with a duration of 27 teaching hours. The program Social Media Sports Communication – Mastering the Art of Promoting Sports Content in the Digital Age offers 27 hours of training in the use of social media for sports promotion, with emphasis on technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality, and analytics. It is addressed to journalists, communication executives, and marketing professionals who seek to gain a competitive advantage. Its innovation lies in combining theoretical knowledge with practical workshops leading to the creation of a personal Digital Portfolio. A Certificate of General Training from KEDIVIM–AUTh is awarded upon completion, with recognition of 2 ECTS credits.
The Scientific Director of the program is Professor Nikolaos Panagiotou, Department of Journalism and Mass Media, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
The program is taught by distinguished academics and experienced professionals in the field of sports communication and digital media. Faculty members from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki contribute their expertise in journalism, communication, and crisis management, while international experts participate in sports marketing, strategic communication, data analysis, and innovative technologies (AI, AR). The aim of the program is to provide knowledge and skills in the field of digital sports communication, with emphasis on the strategic use of social media for promoting sports content. Participants will be trained in creating and managing digital narratives, designing and implementing campaigns, leveraging data analytics for measurable results, and managing crises in the digital environment.
At the same time, the program promotes familiarity with innovative technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Augmented Reality, preparing trainees to meet the increasing demands of the industry. The ultimate goal is to enhance professional employability and create a competitive advantage at both national and international levels.
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to effectively use social media as strategic tools for sports promotion and communication. They will have understood the principles of digital storytelling, key evaluation metrics (KPIs), as well as techniques for crisis management in digital environments.
In addition, they will be capable of designing and implementing comprehensive content plans, using data analysis tools, and adapting their strategies based on evidence-driven decisions. Participants will acquire skills in producingtargeted content for different platforms (Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube), managing collaborations, and applying innovative technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Augmented Reality.
The overall result will be the development of professional competence and the enhancement of their employability in the rapidly evolving field of sports communication.
The program is designed for professionals and executives active in sports journalism, marketing, communication, and public relations who wish to upgrade their skills in the digital environment.

Candidate selection will be carried out by a special committee.

In case the number of those applying is not enough to create a class, the Center reserves the right to change the date of the program, or cancel it.
The program’s methodology is based on a combination of theoretical training and practical application, ensuring participants gain substantial and directly applicable knowledge.
Courses will be delivered online, in synchronous form (live teaching via digital platform), with opportunities for interaction, discussion, and direct feedback from instructors. Each thematic unit will include lectures, case studies, experiential workshops, and group activities that enhance active participation and collaborative learning.
Participants will have access to educational material (notes, presentations, digital resources) through an online platform, as well as to social media and data analytics tools for practical training.
Moreover, the project-based learning approach will be applied, with the final deliverable being a Digital Portfolio, in which trainees will apply communication strategies and content creation for real or simulated scenarios.
Assessment will be based on participation in activities, small practical exercises, and the final project. This ensures that the acquired knowledge and skills are practically applicable and aligned with the needs of the modern labor market in sports communication.
The program has a total duration of 27 hours, corresponding to 2 ECTS credits. It consists of both theoretical and practical modules, aiming to combine knowledge acquisition with skills development.

Obligations of Trainees:
1. Participation in the programs of K.E.DI.BI.M. of the AUTH implies full acceptance of the program’s Study Guide and the Internal Regulation of Operation of the K.E.DI.BI.M. of the AUTH.
2. The presence/attendance of trainees in the educational programmes is mandatory. In the programmes which are realized in physical presence, as in those implemented using the modern method of tele-education, the study is generally mandatory and the limit of absences cannot exceed 10% of the prescribed training hours. The monitoring of asynchronous education is implemented according to the study schedule set by each programme.
3. For the successful completion of the programme, the participants should:

C)have paid all the tuition fees by 26/10/2025.
Rights of Trainees:
1. Trainees are informed by the Department of Administrative Support of K.E.DI.BI.M. for all kinds of information related to the operation of the Centre.
2. Trainees are supported electronically through the educational platform by the trainers, as part of the educational process, to resolve questions and provide clarifications related to the thematic units of the programme.
3. Trainees have the right to apply for the interruption/termination of their programme attendance and a refund of their tuition fees, in accordance with the provisions of par. 12.9 hereof.
4. Students’/Trainees’ work is protected under the Copyright Regulations/Provisions.
After successful completion of the program, participants receive a Certificate of Training, which is issued by the Center for Education and Lifelong Learning of the AUTH and signed by the President of the Center.
Participants, who have attended but not successfully completed the program, will be awarded a Certificate of Attendance.
