  • Short Description

    The Center for Education and Lifelong Learning of the Aristotle University of Thessalonikiwelcomes you to the “Machine Learning: Application in the Classroom through Sustainability and Culture Activities”, a 414-hour course via remote and distance bassed (e-learning).

    The new training program, “Machine Learning: Applications in Education through Sustainability and Culture,” offers a unique opportunity for educators at all levels to enhance their knowledge with innovative techniques and cutting-edge tools. With 414 hours of instruction, participants gain fundamental knowledge in robotics, artificial intelligence, interactive whiteboards, gamification, environmental education, active citizenship initiatives, and cultural activities. These elements are integrated into applied teaching scenarios (for all educational levels), aligning with the new Curriculum Frameworks to ensure relevance and impact in modern education.

    Anastasios Michailidis is a Professor of Agricultural Applications at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Director of the Laboratory of Agricultural Applications and Rural Sociology. He has participated in more than 60 national and European projects (FP, INTERREG, EQUAL, LLP, TEMPUS, ERASMUS+, PRIMA, HORIZON), either as a coordinator or as a team member. His publications in peer-reviewed international journals, collective volumes, and conference proceedings exceed 150. He has also served on the organizing and scientific committees of numerous national and international conferences. His research interests include agricultural applications, advisory services, rural education and training, precision agriculture, management, quality assurance, innovation adoption and dissemination, water resource management, and information and communication technologies (ICT) in agriculture.

  • Aim and objectives

    The training program aims to achieve the following objectives:

    1. Theoretical Understanding and Interdisciplinary Approaches – Exploring the concepts of Robotics, Sustainability, Culture, and STEAM and their integration into school education, in alignment with the new curricula.
    2. Familiarization with Tools and Technical Learning Practices – Gaining hands-on experience with robotics and programming across different educational levels and applying projects in various subjects, such as Language, History, Mathematics, and Physics.
    3. Promoting Sustainability – Implementing the GreenComp Framework and other educational strategies to develop activities and tools that enhance environmental awareness, including recycling and renewable energy sources.
    4. Integrating Culture and Art – Showcasing cultural heritage and fostering creativity in education through interdisciplinary approaches that combine art, technology, and robotics.
    5. A Holistic STEAM-Based Approach – Designing and implementing STEAM projects that merge sustainability, culture, and innovation, as well as adopting a personalized approach to special education through the STEAM philosophy.

  • Learning Outcomes

    Upon completing the training program, participants will have acquired comprehensive theoretical knowledge on the concepts of Robotics, Sustainability, Culture, and STEAM, enabling them to effectively integrate these fields into school education.

    At the same time, they will be proficient in utilizing a wide range of modern educational technologies, including interactive whiteboards, robotics tools, artificial intelligence, and educational gaming platforms.

    All the skills developed throughout the program will be directly applicable to classroom settings and the implementation of teaching scenarios across various educational programs, such as environmental and cultural projects, as well as active citizenship initiatives, fostering a lifelong learning mindset.

    Ultimately, the program aims to bridge theory with practice, equipping participants with innovative teaching methodologies and contemporary skills while also providing certified knowledge and accreditation points relevant for teacher appointment and evaluation processes.

    The program is designed to address the needs of educators from diverse fields, with a strong focus on differentiated instruction, innovation, and modern educational approaches. Specifically, it is intended for:

    1. Educators of all levels, including Early Childhood, Primary, and Secondary Education.
    2. Special Education teachers.
    3. Educators interested in STEAM and Innovation.
    4. Educators with a focus on Sustainability.
    5. Educators passionate about Culture.
    6. Adult Educators.

  • Format

    The training program will be conducted primarily asynchronously and remotely through a digital learning platform. However, there will be two synchronous sessions—one midway through the program and one at the end—designed for Q&A, knowledge sharing, and experience exchange among participants and instructors. These two synchronous meetings will be mandatory, but participants will have the option to attend via live streaming if they are unable to be physically present.

    Participants will receive weekly educational materials, including:

    • Video tutorials (one or more) on the use of the taught technical tool or interview videos with the instructor or a guest expert, summarizing the theoretical framework of a concept.
    • PowerPoint presentations outlining the key theoretical approaches of each module.
    • Supplementary resources, such as articles, book excerpts, artistic images, maps, and diagrams in PDF format.
    • Self-assessment quizzes to reinforce learning.

  • Liabilities

    Obligations of Trainees:

    1. Participation in the programs of K.E.DI.BI.M. of the AUTH implies full acceptance of the program’s Study Guide and the Internal Regulation of Operation of the K.E.DI.BI.M. of the AUTH.
    2. The presence/attendance of trainees in the educational programmes is mandatory. In the programmes which are realized in physical presence, as in those implemented using the modern method of tele-education, the study is generally mandatory and the limit of absences cannot exceed 10% of the prescribed training hours. The monitoring of asynchronous education is implemented according to the study schedule set by each programme.
    3. For the successful completion of the programme, the participants should:

    6. have paid all the tuition fees by 31/8/2025

    Rights of Trainees:

    1. Trainees are informed by the Department of Administrative Support of K.E.DI.BI.M. for all kinds of information related to the operation of the Centre.
    2. Trainees are supported electronically through the educational platform by the trainers, as part of the educational process, to resolve questions and provide clarifications related to the thematic units of the programme.
    3. Trainees have the right to apply for the interruption/termination of their programme attendance and a refund of their tuition fees, in accordance with the provisions of par. 12.9 hereof.
    4. Students’/Trainees’ work is protected under the Copyright Regulations/Provisions.
  • Certificate

    After successful completion of the program, participants receive a a Certificate of Specialized Training,which is issued by the Center for Education and Lifelong Learning of the AUTH and signed by the President of the Center.

    Participants, who have attended but not successfully completed the program, will be awarded a Certificate of Attendance.

The program cost is €500 and can be paid in up to three installments (either in full or in three payments of €200 + €200 + €100).

To qualify for the discount, applicants must provide the corresponding supporting document, such as a proof of employment, student enrollment certificate, disability certificate, or a large family status certificate, etc.
