The Center for Education and Lifelong Learning of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki welcomes you to the 10th International Summer School: Medical Law and Bioethics “Beyond the human: environmental and animal health/Bioethical issues”, a 42-hours course which will take place in hybrid format (on-site and remotely via ZOOM platform).
The aim is to approach each issue in an interdisciplinary way, combining the findings of Law and Medical Science with Bioethics, so as to illuminate all aspects of crucial issues that concern not only the scientific community, but also everyday life. The program is conducted in English in order to enable the participation of stakeholders from abroad with the aim of discussing and analyzing these issues not only nationally but also internationally.
The Scientific Director of the Programme is Triantafyllia (Lina) Papadopoulou, Professor, Faculty of Law, AUTh, Vice-Director of the Laboratory for the Research of Medical Law and Bioethics.

Duration: 42 hours (40h of teaching + 2h of exams)
Cost: 100€ for students of all levels and EUR 150,00 for professionals for entries up to April 30st, 2025 and to EUR 130,00 and EUR 180,00 respectively for entries up to May 31th, 2025 (deadline)
Discount: There is an early bird fee for registrations until the 30th April 2024. There is also a discount for groups.

The aim of the program is to analyze the climate change and health effects, the food Insecurity and public health challenges, the extreme weather phenomena and public health: trends, projections and challenges, the climate change before international courts, climate change before international courts, the tackling global health threats arising at the human-animal-environmental interface through the One Health Approach, the environmental pollution and risk assessment, the energy law and sustainability, the animal welfare and humane welfare in the social sustainability approach: rules and regulations, the EU animal welfare legislation, the animal abuse: penal aspects, the animal abuse from a veterinary perspective, the principles of veterinary medical ethics, the animal agency and anthropomorphism, the euthanasia of animals, the animal testing and experiments, the animal slaughter and freedom of religion etc.

The program is addressed mainly to students and graduates of Law, Veterinary & Medicine Schools as well as any other School with relevant interests (Biology, Theology, Philosophy, etc.) and generally to persons who deal with these topics.

After successful completion of the program, participants receive a Certificate of Training, which is issued by the Center for Education and Lifelong Learning of the AUTH and signed by the President of the Center.
Participants, who have attended but not successfully completed the program, will be awarded a Certificate of Attendance.
